NOAA seeks applications for 2024 urban heat island initiative

Communities must apply by January 31 for heat mapping program
Kyra Woods, policy advisor for the city of Chicago, hands out sensors to volunteers who will attach a sensor to their car and drive established routes in the city. The sensor can record temperature, humidity and location. The data are then used to create a detailed map of urban heat pockets in the city.
