Virtual Investigation of the Rising Sea using Crowdsourced Data

Summary: The rising sea level is triggering multiple hazards in the coastal zone. We still lack data to analyze the wide-spread and sporadic events such as high tide flooding. I plan to use examples to show how the crowdsourced data such as drones, webcams, and Twitter can be used to further our monitoring and understanding of coastal flooding and erosion. The talk will show the emerging technology and possibility of data collection and also the ongoing trend of the field. This could help the community to better understand the can's and frontier of the field and help me understand the data demand of the community to explore more useful techniques.
